Pitfalls for new users: what you should know

Almost all startup problems have the same causes. This list covers the 18 most common ones, each with the fix and a link to the detailed page.

Before your first post

  • Without a plan, you can only look around. Creating, analyzing and scheduling are locked until a plan is running. You start the trial under Settings › Billing, and the steps are in Start your trial. The messages have a page of their own: I can’t create anything.
  • The trial includes exactly one CI analysis. The quotas are reduced during the trial, and Re-analyze counts toward the quota as well. So first collect your website, logo, company content and reference images (at least 4 for the style analysis), then start. More in Run the CI analysis.
  • The CI analysis doesn’t start without a website. It’s the only required source. Under Backstage › Company, enter a real domain, for example yourcompany.com. Saving doesn’t start the analysis yet. You start it in the CI Overview.
  • The Visual Designer stays closed until the CI analysis has run. Until then it says “Brand first, images second”. The Post Generator isn’t locked like that. Set up your brand shows the flow.
  • You upload company content in Backstage. The place is Backstage › CI Overview, in the Company content section. Some hints in the app still mention the settings, but under Settings › Company details there are only your invoice details. More in No post ideas.
  • “Files” and “Photo Library” are the same area. The sidebar says Files, and the tile on Home says Photo Library. Everything about it is in Files.

When scheduling and publishing

  • You can’t schedule anything without a connected channel. The Calendar then says “No channel connected — scheduling is locked.” Connect an account under Backstage › Connections, and the steps are in Connect your first channel.
  • Save & close doesn’t schedule. The post stays a draft. Only Schedule publication sets it to Planned. Details in Schedule a post.
  • Drafts don’t appear in the grid. You only find them in the list on the left under Draft. The grid shows posts only once they’re no longer drafts. More in the Calendar.
  • With several connected channels, none is preselected. You switch the channels on in the editor yourself. If only one channel is connected, it’s on right away.
  • All dates use German time. That applies even if your browser is set to another time zone. The editor points this out: “Times shown in German time”.

With copy and formats

  • Stories have no text and no link sticker. This applies to Instagram and Facebook. The text belongs in the image, for example as a layer in the Visual Designer.
  • There’s no bold or italic. The app says: “Platforms do not support bold/italic — this will be published as plain text.” Structure your text with paragraphs, • or →. More in the Post Generator.
  • Facebook feed posts don’t take videos. You publish a video on Facebook as a Reel. All the rules are in Formats and limits.
  • A LinkedIn carousel is called Document. companycore turns your images into a PDF, and each image becomes a page.

With your account and plan

  • One login works on one device only. If you sign in somewhere else, you’re signed out on the first device. Colleagues need their own logins, which are available from Pro. See Login help and Team and brands.
  • The trial ends on day 3 with the first charge. If you don’t want that, end it beforehand under Settings › Billing. If you end it during the trial, you pay nothing. More in Cancel and your data.
  • Switching to a smaller plan permanently deletes data. If the new plan allows fewer brands or members, companycore deletes the extra ones along with their content. The app warns you beforehand with “Really switch plans?”. See Plans, pricing and invoices.

Still stuck?

Then the page for your symptom helps. Each one takes you from the wording of the message to the fix.

Search for the message wording

Type the text of the message into the search exactly as it appears. The help pages list the app’s messages word for word.

Frequently asked questions

Why don’t I see the “Billing” tab?

Billing and Usage are only visible to the owner of the organization. Whoever signed up for the account is the owner. Everyone else asks the owner to start the trial or change the plan.

Can I start the trial a second time?

No. The trial exists only once per organization, and only if the organization has never had a plan. If you come back later, you pay from day one.

I can only look, not create. Is that a bug?

Probably not. With the Viewer role, the app shows “Your access is view-only.” The owner or an admin can give you the Editor role, from Pro under Settings › Team.
