Files: manage photos, videos and designs
Files (called Photo Library on Home) is the central place for your images, videos and finished designs. You upload videos there and schedule them in the calendar. companycore can’t trim them (yet).
What is in Files?
Files holds all your images, videos and finished designs in one place, organized in folders: uploads, finished designs, posted items and carousels. In the sidebar, the area is called Files, and the tile on Home is called Photo Library. They are the same thing. Buttons such as To library also put files here.
You filter on the left: All shows the folder view, plus Carousels, Videos, Posted and Favorites, each with a counter. Every card carries a badge that shows where it came from.
| Badge | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Upload | A file you uploaded yourself. |
| Finished | An image baked in the Visual Designer. Editing opens it as a new document. |
| Posted | A file from an already published post. Editing opens a copy. |
| Carousel | A group of images in a fixed order, see Carousels and templates. |
How do I upload photos and videos?
- Open Files. You find the area in the sidebar.
- Add files. Click Upload files or drag files onto the page (“Drop files here”).
- Wait briefly. The app shows “Uploading … 42%” and then “Optimizing …”. Images and videos are optimized automatically and stored as WebP and MP4, respectively.
- Organize or use. The files are now available for selection in the Post Generator, the Visual Designer and the calendar.
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| File size | 200 MB per file at most |
| Files per batch | 10. The app splits large multi-uploads into batches automatically. |
| Video length | 3 minutes at most. A minimum length is checked only by the calendar for each format, see Formats and limits. |
| Videos per batch | 4 at most. If you choose more, the app splits the selection into several batches automatically. |
| File types | Images and videos. The app converts iPhone photos in HEIC format. |
If you leave the page or reload it while an upload is still running, the upload is canceled. When you log out, the app asks first (“Upload still running”). Then choose Wait instead of clicking Sign out anyway.
How do I organize, select and edit?
Organizing
- New folder creates a folder. You drag files into it with drag and drop.
- Folders get a Color (Violet, Amber, Green, Orange, Blue, Pink, Gray or none) and an icon via Change icon (emoji or your own image), and you can mark them as a favorite with Favorite folder.
- With Search files …, you search your files.
- Sort order: Newest first, Oldest first, Name (A to Z) or Manual.
- View: Grid or List with the columns Name, Kind, Format, Date and Location.
Selecting and editing
With ⌘/Ctrl + click, you add single files to the selection; with Shift + click, you select a range; with ⌘/Ctrl + A, you select all visible files. On touch devices, a long press opens the context menu. These actions are available for the selection:
- Move to … puts the files in another folder.
- Group as carousel turns several images into a carousel.
- Download downloads files. Several files arrive one after another as individual files, not as a ZIP.
- Open in the Visual Designer lets you keep editing an image. Finished images open as a new document, posted ones as a copy. Videos can’t be opened: “Videos cannot be opened in the Visual Designer (yet).”
Wherever you need an image, the window “Pick from your files” opens: in the Post Generator, in the Visual Designer and in the calendar. It shows All files, Favourites and your folders, and a double-click picks a file right away. In the Post Generator, videos are hidden (“Only images fit here — videos are hidden.”).
What happens when I delete?
Deleted is deleted
Deleting is permanent. The app asks first, and afterward nothing can be restored. If you delete a folder, everything in it disappears: “Delete folder … including ALL contents? This cannot be undone.”
Deleting is blocked while a file is part of a scheduled post. Then it says “Still used in a planned post: …” with the post’s title. Change the post in the calendar first, and then you can delete the file.
There is no full export. If you cancel, download what you want to keep one file at a time beforehand. More in Cancel and data.
Videos in companycore: what works and what doesn’t?
Possible today: you upload a finished video (up to 3 minutes, up to 200 MB) and schedule it in the calendar. companycore doesn’t create videos itself, it publishes yours.
| Platform | Format in the calendar |
|---|---|
| Reel | |
| Reel | |
| Video | |
| TikTok | Video, only if TikTok is enabled for your account |
| YouTube | Short |
The calendar checks length and aspect ratio per format. The rules are in Formats and limits. For the caption, the Post Generator helps: for Instagram, you choose the length Reel (short & punchy) or Video; for TikTok and YouTube, Short (~50 words) or Medium (~90 words). You don’t link a video there, because Link image takes images only.
The Video Editor is coming
Not yet possible: trimming, subtitles, music and editing videos in the Visual Designer. The Video Editor appears in the sidebar with “Soon” and is in development. Until then, you trim videos in an app of your choice and upload the finished video. For music in reels, see Music in reels.
| Message during upload | What you can do |
|---|---|
| „Video zu lang oder Dauer nicht lesbar — maximal 3 Minuten.“ (in German; video too long or length unreadable, 3 minutes at most) | Trim the video before uploading. |
| „Maximal 4 Videos pro Upload — bitte die restlichen einzeln hochladen.“ (in German; at most 4 videos per upload, please upload the rest individually) | If this message appears anyway, upload the remaining videos in a second upload. |
| “… is too large (maximum 200 MB).” | Make the file smaller, for example with a lower resolution. |
| „Die Datei enthält keine Videospur“ (in German; the file contains no video track) | Check that the file really is a video. |
| “The server restarted – please upload the video again.” | Upload the video again. |
| “No valid files. Images & videos only.” | Other file types, such as PDFs, can’t go into Files. |
