Connection expired or disconnected: reconnect
Connections to social accounts expire at some point or get revoked. companycore warns you beforehand. You reconnect directly in Backstage, and after that you have to reschedule any posts that missed their scheduled time.
What do the badges under “Connections” mean?
Each platform has a card under Backstage › Connections, in the order Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube. The TikTok card only appears if TikTok is enabled for your brand. The badge tells you the state of the connection.

| Badge | What it means | What you do |
|---|---|---|
| “Connected” | The connection is up and ready to send. Below it, “Expires on {date}” may appear. | Nothing. |
| “No target selected” | Facebook or LinkedIn is connected, but no reachable Page is chosen. Posts would fail. | Under Target profile, choose a Page or a profile. |
| “Connection expired — please reconnect.” | The access is invalid or has expired. | Reconnect, steps below. |
| “Renewal failing right now” | The automatic renewal is failing. companycore keeps trying, and the card shows the expiry date. | To be safe, reconnect before the expiry date. |
| “Disconnected — reconnect” | The connection could no longer be renewed or was revoked, and is disconnected. | Reconnect and reschedule the posts that missed their time. |
| “Load failed” | The status couldn’t be loaded. That says nothing about whether the account is connected. | Click Reload. |
| “Not connected” | There is no account for this platform yet. | Click Connect {platform}. |
How long do connections last?
| Platform | Validity |
|---|---|
| Instagram and Facebook | The access is valid for about 60 days. companycore renews it automatically. |
| companycore renews the access automatically. After 365 days, you have to sign in again. | |
| TikTok | The app says: “The connection lasts 1 year — after that you’ll need to reconnect TikTok.” |
| YouTube | There’s no fixed expiry date as long as you don’t revoke the access at Google. |
Which warnings does companycore send?
- “Connection expires soon”: 7, 3 and 1 day before an expiry that companycore can’t renew automatically. In the app it says “{platform} connection expires soon — please renew”, and the email has the button Open connections.
- “Connection lost”: The app says “{platform} connection lost — please reconnect”. The email also names the affected scheduled posts and has the button Reconnect now.
- “Problem before the date”: The pre-check finds an expired or disconnected connection on a post.
Connection warnings go to owners and admins by default, in the app and by email. You change that under Settings › Notifications, see Status, publishing and notifications.
How to reconnect
- Open Backstage › Connections. Who may connect is explained further down.
- Click Connect {platform}. companycore sends you to the platform’s sign-in as a full page, not as a popup. Sign in and confirm all the permissions it asks for.
- Finish in the same browser. You come back to Backstage.
- Check the card. It shows “Connected”. For Facebook and LinkedIn, check the Page or profile under Target profile. With Facebook, the Page you chose before is kept if it’s still reachable.
- Reschedule the missed posts. Posts scheduled while the account was disconnected have failed. How to reschedule them is in My post wasn’t published.
Owners and admins can always connect, and editors only if the owner has turned on the Manage social accounts switch under Settings › Permissions. To connect, you need an active plan, and the trial counts. Connections apply per brand: each brand connects its own accounts. The first steps are in Connect your first channel.
Missed posts don’t go out on their own
Posts scheduled for a time while the account was disconnected fail and have to be rescheduled afterwards. Only posts scheduled for a future time go out automatically after you reconnect.
Instagram or Facebook asks for a confirmation
Sometimes the platform asks you to confirm something. The card then says: “{platform} asks you to confirm something: sign in once on {site} and confirm the notice there. We then renew the access automatically — the connection stays.” So sign in directly on Instagram or Facebook and confirm the notice. You don’t have to reconnect.
Common errors when connecting
| Message | What you do |
|---|---|
| “Sicherheitsprüfung fehlgeschlagen. Bitte im selben Browser erneut verbinden.” (German; meaning: “Security check failed. Please reconnect in the same browser.”) | Start the connection again and finish it in the same browser. |
| “Sitzung abgelaufen. Bitte erneut verbinden.” (German; meaning: “Session expired. Please reconnect.”) | Start the connection again and confirm quickly at the platform. |
| “No pages found” | On Facebook, companycore posts to Pages, not to personal profiles. You need a Facebook Page that you’re allowed to manage. |
| “Dieses Google-Konto hat keinen YouTube-Kanal. …” (German; meaning: “This Google account has no YouTube channel. …”) | Create a channel first, then connect companycore again. |
| “Google hat nicht alle benötigten Berechtigungen erteilt (fehlt: …) — bitte beim Verbinden alle Haken (Hochladen + Kanal ansehen) gesetzt lassen.” (German; meaning: “Google did not grant all required permissions (missing: …) — please leave all checkboxes (upload + view channel) checked when connecting.”) | Reconnect and leave all checkboxes checked in the Google dialog. |
| “You do not have permission for this in this organisation.” | Your role isn’t allowed to connect accounts. Ask the owner or an admin. |
| “{platform} isn’t enabled for your organization yet.” | TikTok is being rolled out step by step. Write to jan@companycore.ai. |
| “Could not start the {platform} connection.” | Try again in a moment. If that doesn’t help, get in touch through Feedback. |
Disconnect on purpose
Click Disconnect on the account. The app asks: “Really disconnect {name} ({platform})? Without a connected account, scheduled posts for this target will not be published.” Scheduled posts stay in the Calendar, but they fail at their date as long as no account is connected. Posts that are already published stay on the platform. You can disconnect even without an active plan.
For YouTube, companycore also revokes the access at Google. Published videos stay there: “Videos already published stay on YouTube — delete them in YouTube Studio.”
Still stuck?
